Tallinn Christmas Market schedule

• Friday, November 20, 2026: The market opens at 18:00 with opening remarks, then the Christmas lights are switched on at the main Christmas tree.
• Sunday, November 29, 2026: On the first Sunday of Advent, the Mayor of Tallinn and the Dean of Tallinn Cathedral proclaim the start of Advent and light the Advent candle.
• From November 29, 2026: Santa Claus welcomes children every day from 12:00 to 18:00 in his little house.
• Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: Popular music groups, folk dance troupes and performers take the stage.
• Thursday, December 31, 2026: Visitors can welcome the New Year at the market.
• Wednesday, January 6, 2027: The market stays open until the evening of January 6, 2027.

About Tallinn Christmas Market

A fairytale market in Town Hall Square around a Christmas tree that has stood there since 1441.

The market fills Town Hall Square in Tallinn's medieval Old Town around what is called the world's first public Christmas tree. It offers dozens of glögg varieties, Estonian Christmas food, handicrafts and a stage program on Fridays to Sundays. The catch is that it is small, and in a short winter day the best time is evening, when drinks run later than the stalls.

Know before you go

• Reusable tableware carries a two euro deposit, refunded when it is returned.
• Drinks are served later than stalls are open, until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm Fridays and Saturdays.
• Tallinn Airport (TLL) is about a ten minute drive from the Old Town, and ferries link Helsinki with Tallinn.
