Maya cacao country celebrates chocolate in May: a wine and chocolate gala, a street fair and farm and village events in Toledo.
The Chocolate Festival of Belize, once called the Toledo Cacao Festival, is held in Punta Gorda in southern Belize, which calls itself the chocolate capital of the country. Chocolatiers from across Toledo share samples, with a signature Wine and Chocolate evening and a family street fair at the Welcome Plaza. The catch is that Punta Gorda is far south, so plan the long trip from Belize City.
