It usually falls in the second week of April. Wikipedia says it falls on April 14 every year, with Bohag listed as April 13 or 14.
It is celebrated on January 14 and 15 every year, in line with the solar calendar. The eve, called Uruka, is the day of the community feast.
Bihu is Assam's main festival, and there are three Bihus. Rongali Bihu in April marks the Assamese New Year, and Magh Bihu in January marks the end of the harvest.
At Magh Bihu people prepare pitha (a rice cake), til pitha (sesame rice cake), doi chira (curd and flattened rice) and sweets.
Rongali Bihu is also called Bohag Bihu and Saat Bihu (seven Bihus).
