Good Friday: An Easter egg hunt in Rosalind Park. In 2026 it was a ticketed event at $18 per child, and the Rotary Market and Carnival Central also opened.
Easter Saturday: Awakening of the Dragon at the Dai Gum San Precinct, with dance, drums, lion teams and 100,000 crackers. At sunset the Torchlight Procession of illuminated floats ends with fireworks over the city. In 2026 it began at 7:30 pm.
Easter Sunday: The Gala Parade with Dai Gum Loong. In 2026 it began at 12:30 pm.
Easter Monday: Smaller community-run events are held in various locations within the city.

History of Bendigo Easter Festival

The first Bendigo Easter Fair was held in 1871 to raise funds for the Sandhurst Benevolent Asylum and Hospital. It has run every year since except 2020 and 2021. Chinese residents first took part on a large scale in 1879, and the newest dragon, Dai Gum Loong, arrived in 2019 and is over 125 metres long.

The Bendigo Easter Festival fills Rosalind Park and the city center over the Easter long weekend. It has an egg hunt on Good Friday, Carnival Central, the Rotary Market, live music, a Torchlight Procession with fireworks on Saturday night and the Gala Parade on Sunday, led by Dai Gum Loong, the world's longest parading Imperial dragon.
