Travel Expert Jon Muller’s Fox 5 Interview about SlickTrip’s Real-time Price Alert Platform

Host: You plan on getting away sometime in the near future, perhaps it would benefit you to get some expertise on the do’s and don’ts for saving on your spring flight. Joining us to discuss this and so much more is Mr. Jon Muller, travel expert with SlickTrip real time price alert platform. Hey Jon, good to see you, and welcome to the show.

Jon: To see you too good to see you too.

Host: All right, before we jump into this, I got to tell you I am not too familiar with SlickTrip and well, that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to have you on because you all do amazing things over there.

Jon: Do tell Okay, so thanks for having us. So SlickTrip is a new company that is really primarily focused on real time travel alerts. So we’re really designed for travel alerts that give you real time price changes for both flights and hotels. Really what? What sets us apart is the real time of its notifications instantaneously when price prices drop on flights and hotels, and you’d be very surprised how often that happens, and we’ve been really able to save our users significant amounts of money when it comes.

Host: will do yet again. Mr. Jon Muller, travel expert with SlickTrip, thank you so much. All right, thank you. We’ll take a quick break and we’ll be right back. You.

Host: Okay, I got to start this over, Jon, because before you were just my friend, now you’re my best friend. I absolutely love this. This is truly awesome. With that being said, what are some of the top tips for saving on flights this spring? My friend.

Jon: Okay again, our main call out would be to start looking early booking two months at least. At least two months in advance on your trip is key, because the price fluctuations do happen continuously and specifically on a route that you might be, that you might be going on, you might be able to take advantage of real drops in prices, both on hotels and on flights, but the earlier you look, the better off you’re going to that you’re going to be. And one of the things that we also really kind of recommend is if you can really book a flight or a hotel that has a very liberal policy for cancelation, it allows you, when prices do drop and you get that alert, to be able to action that alert and be able to rebook your flight or rebook your hotel at a significantly lower price.

Host: So that fine small print really does matter with regard to.

Jon: Sure it does. But the good thing is, over the past couple of years, especially since covid cancelation, policies are fairly liberal, especially with hotels, but with flights as well. So again, rebooking at a lower price is really, really kind of the key.

Host: Yeah, Jon, I hear what you’re saying, but a lot of folks are probably saying or thinking what I’m about to say, and that is, we got this little conflict going on over in the Middle East, and if things continue to well, go in the, let’s say, a bad direction, we will see the price of oil rise, which means jet fuel will rise, which, guess what? Means. I got to dig a lot deeper in this pocket of mine in order to pay for a ticket. How were you able to forecast with regard to what’s going on in Iran?

Jon: So that’s an interesting question. So right now, we’ve, we haven’t really seen significant price increases due to the crisis in Iran, but they are definitely expected. Airlines have actually just announced that they’re going to be pushing pricing up due to the fuel the fuel pricing issues, and they’re going to be raising ticket prices probably within a good 10 to 20% so that is actually significant, which makes it all the more important to be able to set up these types of alerts on our phones so we’d be able to book flights, or at least understand where the fluctuation in prices are going to be.

Host: Yeah, there’s someone watching right now, Jon, and they’re saying, You know what, I need to write all of this down. But guess what? They’re looking for that pen, and as they walk away, you, my friend, are about to tell us some of the mistakes that person might make if they don’t listen up.

Jon: So that’s a great question, and the biggest mistake is waiting too long for us. What we’ve really seen, overall, and especially pursuant to your last question on oil prices, if you wait too long, you’re really going to have issues when it comes to price rising. Prices are rising, because I will tell you, prices are not going down. The cost in general, is going up for fuel and for other material goods as well. So waiting too long is definitely going to be the biggest mistake that most people make. And when you do have a platform like slicktrip.com being able to alert you consistently in real time. You can actually see either your flight or your hotel price start moving up, or both, so the time to book would be then.

Host: all right, so I googled fares the other day. I’m planning. On taking a trip to Europe in the month of July, but error fares popped up, and I didn’t get a chance to click on it, but I happen to see that a lot, and I’m hoping you could explain what that’s all about. Okay, so,

Jon: So error fares happen way more often than one thinks. There are a couple of big errors that happen about 20 times a year, where airlines, major airlines, major carriers, make mistakes and they have and the prices go crazy. I’ve actually had experience in that where a couple of years ago, Delta Airlines was letting customers book flights for $25 in business class. So I was able to take action and take my whole family to California for a total, I think, of $150 at that point. But it happens more often than not. So what our platform does, and one of the reasons why our platform was born, we were built by travelers who really live and breathe these types of deals, was to catch these hours.

And the only way to catch these errors, because these errors generally, typically last for a couple of hours at most. And we actually had a recent user that took advantage of exactly that they were booking a flight to Florida, and they set an alert for, I think a round trip flight was about $600 they saw that they missed it at three o’clock in the morning. They missed a price drop that went down to $200 I told the user. I said, keep the alert. See what happens the next morning, we get a text from that user, saying we just saved him $600 on that flight that he set his toner on a certain ringer and woke him up at three in the morning. Price went right back up to about $700 by the time nine o’clock rolled around. So he was able to answer that. So being diligent and being able to to actually strike while the prices hit, especially when you have those error errors occur in the system, is key, and that can save you significant amount of

Host: significant amount of well, because of you now, Jon, I plan on Waking up at 3am tomorrow morning to see what deal I don’t recommend. You know, we do what we die to do, right,

Jon: So again, like, especially during these times when prices are kind of going through the roof, and we’re dealing with with the headache of travel from the TSA to oil prices, it is probably more key than ever to be able to find these little hacks, to be able to save you money, especially on travel, because that makes us feel amazing and normal and getting out there and living our lives. So to me, being able to provide a platform and a service to people that actually save the money and significant money is amazing. And I think that you know, our service is free, so signing up for these alerts does not cost you anything. It can only save you. So I’ll leave you on that. But have a great trip to Europe. And I hope you use SlickTrip.com to find a great price you bet
