How we calculate this

Where the numbers come from, and what they do not promise.

The fare numbers

Every price in a SlickTrip alert is one we recorded ourselves. When we say a fare was $1,156 and is now $1,067, both figures come from our own price history for your route, at the times we checked it. The drop is the difference between the price when we last alerted you and the price now. Nothing is modelled, estimated, or rounded to look better.

Fares change constantly and can move between the moment we check and the moment you open the email. We show you when we last saw the price, and the airline or booking site is always the final word.

The bonus figures

When a sponsored section mentions a welcome bonus, that figure is the bonus the card is advertising at the time we send, as published by our partner. We do not calculate it, adjust it, or forecast it.

A welcome bonus is not money off your flight. It is what a card offers a new cardholder who meets a spend requirement inside a set window. We mention flights in the same breath because a flight you were already booking counts toward that spend, not because booking one earns you anything by itself.

What a bonus figure does not mean

It does not mean you will receive it. Bonuses require approval for the card, then meeting the full spend requirement within the window. Not everyone is approved, and not every applicant is eligible for every offer.

Where a bonus is paid in points or miles, the cash value depends entirely on how you redeem them. The same points can be worth noticeably more or less depending on what you book. Any dollar figure attached to a points bonus is the card issuer's own framing, not our valuation of your points.

Offers change without notice, and the terms you see when you apply are the ones that count. Annual fees, interest rates, and other charges apply and are set by the issuer.

How we are paid

Sections labelled Sponsored come from our partnership with CardRatings. If you click through and are approved for a card, we may be paid a commission. That compensation does not change the fares we find for you, the alerts we send, or when we send them. Our price watching runs the same either way.

SlickTrip has partnered with CardRatings for our coverage of credit card products. SlickTrip and CardRatings may receive a commission from card issuers.
