Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SlickTrip

Pricing & Model

Yes, SlickTrip is completely free. There are no subscription fees, no premium tiers, and no hidden costs. You get full access to real-time SMS and email alerts, flexible date searching, multi-airport monitoring, and the Bucket List feature without paying anything.
SlickTrip operates on a different model. Instead of charging travelers for alerts, we earn commissions when you book flights through our platform. This means our success depends on finding you legitimate, bookable deals not just sending notifications. Though we earn commissions from some airlines, at this point we follow a customer-first model. We will never promote a flight for which we earn commission over a cheaper flight where we do not.
No limits. You can set up alerts for as many routes, destinations, and date ranges as you want. Monitor domestic trips, international bucket list destinations, and error fare opportunities simultaneously without restrictions.

Alerts, Speed & Notifications

SlickTrip's alerts arrive within minutes of price drops, not hours or days. While email newsletters send daily or weekly digests (often 6-24 hours after deals appear), SlickTrip monitors your prices continuously and will alert you of a change within minutes.
SMS alerts work universally across all phone networks, don't require data connections or app installations, and deliver instantly to the device you check most frequently. Error fares and flash sales often disappear within 2-6 hours. SMS open rates are as high as 98% and 90% of recipients respond to SMS alerts within 30 minutes. This means you are much more likely to see and respond to an error fare opportunity or other price change.
Yes! You can choose SMS only, email only, or both. Many users set SMS for urgent error fare alerts and email for bucket list destinations they're monitoring long-term.
No. SlickTrip only sends alerts when prices drop significantly on routes you're actively monitoring. You can customize price thresholds, set quiet hours, and adjust notification preferences anytime to prevent alert fatigue.
Yes. SMS technology works on global cellular networks. SlickTrip users successfully receive alerts while traveling internationally, though you should verify your carrier's international SMS delivery settings.

Search & Monitoring Capabilities

SlickTrip lets you search up to 3 departure airports and 3 arrival airports per search. This multi-airport flexibility helps you find the best deals across nearby options (like JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia for NYC travelers).
Both! SlickTrip supports searching up to 2 outbound dates and 2 inbound dates simultaneously. This flexible date search capability helps you find deals across multiple travel windows instead of being locked into specific days.
The Bucket List lets you add dream destinations and receive persistent monitoring even when you're not actively planning trips. SlickTrip works 24/7 in the background, alerting you when deals appear for places like Iceland, Tokyo, or Morocco enabling spontaneous bookings when prices drop.
SlickTrip tracks both roundtrip and one-way flights. You can also monitor open-jaw routes (flying into one city and departing from another) for complex European itineraries or multi-destination trips.
Yes, SlickTrip has many flight search variations, Multi-leg, Multi-Date, Multi-Class you can even search them all at once!

Deals & Error Fares

Yes. SlickTrip's real-time monitoring system is specifically designed to catch error fares within minutes of appearing. These pricing glitches typically disappear within 2-6 hours, making instant SMS alerts essential for booking before corrections happen.
Error fares are pricing mistakes (technical glitches, currency errors) that airlines correct quickly. Flash sales are intentional short-term promotions lasting hours to days. Regular price drops are standard pricing adjustments based on demand. SlickTrip alerts you to all three types.
Error fares are legitimate bookings at the moment of purchase. Airlines honor 80-90% of mistake fares, especially once ticketed and confirmed. The key is booking immediately and following best practices (refundable accommodations, waiting 7-14 days before booking non-refundable add-ons).
SlickTrip verifies deals through real-time availability checking across multiple sources before sending alerts. We show you the normal price alongside the deal price so you understand the savings. If something seems extraordinary (like $287 to Iceland), it's likely an error fare book first, ask questions later.

Setup & Management

Under 60 seconds. Just enter your email, phone number, departure city, destination, and travel dates. You can add more detailed preferences (price thresholds, specific airlines, notification timing) but basic setup is extremely fast.
Yes. You can temporarily disable alerts, modify routes and dates, or completely remove specific searches without affecting your account or other active alerts.
Simply edit your existing alert with new dates. SlickTrip immediately starts monitoring the updated parameters without requiring you to create new alerts from scratch.
Yes. SlickTrip allows custom price thresholds so you only receive notifications when fares drop below your specified budget. This prevents notification overload from deals that don't match your financial constraints.

Coverage & Availability

SlickTrip monitors all major airlines plus hundreds of budget carriers, including legacy carriers (United, American, Delta), low-cost airlines (Southwest, JetBlue, Spirit), and international carriers (Icelandair, Norwegian, Air France). Coverage includes both direct airline pricing and OTA platforms.
Both. SlickTrip monitors domestic US flights and international routes worldwide. Users successfully track flights from the US to Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and everywhere in between.
Yes. While many SlickTrip users are US-based, the platform works for travelers departing from international airports. You can set departure cities anywhere and receive alerts via SMS or email globally.

Privacy & Security

SlickTrip collects your email, phone number (for SMS alerts), and flight search preferences. This information is used exclusively to send you price alerts and improve monitoring accuracy. We don't sell your data to third parties.
No. Your phone number is used only for SMS price alerts from SlickTrip. We never share contact information with airlines, advertisers, or third-party marketing companies.
SlickTrip doesn't store payment information. When you book flights, you're redirected to the airline or booking platform where you complete the transaction securely on their systems.

Booking & Post-Alert Actions

SlickTrip provides alerts and streamlined booking access with pre-filled search parameters. The actual booking happens on airline or verified booking platform websites. This ensures you're booking directly with trusted sources.
SlickTrip maintains multiple alerts and backup options. If a primary deal vanishes, your other active alerts continue monitoring similar routes. Error fares are unpredictable, but having multiple searches increases your chances of catching the next opportunity.
SlickTrip focuses exclusively on flights. For hotels and rental cars, we recommend complementary platforms like Booking.com for accommodations and Kayak for rental cars. Our specialization ensures superior flight tracking performance.
SlickTrip alerts focus on finding deals before booking. For post-booking price monitoring, consider tools specifically designed for that purpose or check your airline's price guarantee policies.

Comparison with Other Tools

SlickTrip keeps much closer, real-time tabs on prices than Google Flights. Here's the key difference: Google Flights has great historical data and lets you set manual price alerts, but its prices typically refresh about once per day. SlickTrip checks prices every 15–30 minutes and sends instant SMS alerts when we detect time-sensitive error fares or flash sales the kind of short-lived deals that Google Flights often doesn't surface in time because of its slower update cycle. So in short: Google Flights is great for research; SlickTrip is built for catching ultra-time-sensitive deals before they disappear.
SlickTrip focuses on what's actually on sale right now, not what might happen later. Hopper is all about price predictions it uses algorithms to tell you whether to wait or book, based on forecasted trends. Skyscanner is a powerful meta-search engine it compares lots of sites to show you available prices at a given moment. SlickTrip is built for real-time deal hunting: we continuously monitor live prices and send instant SMS alerts when there's a real, measurable price drop, error fare, or flash sale happening right now not just a prediction about what prices could do in the future. In other words: Hopper predicts, Skyscanner aggregates, SlickTrip pounces.
Absolutely. Many users combine SlickTrip's real-time SMS alerts with Google Flights' historical data and Skyscanner's route discovery. Each tool has strengths, and using multiple platforms ensures comprehensive coverage.
