About Vogalonga

Thousands of rowers and paddlers take over the Venice lagoon in a 30-kilometer, non-competitive procession.

Vogalonga is a non-competitive rowing event open to every boat moved by oar or paddle: Venetian-style boats, canoes, kayaks and dragon boats. A cannon shot from the island of San Giorgio Maggiore starts it, and the route crosses the lagoon past Burano before returning through Cannaregio to the Grand Canal. There are no rankings, only the finish line. The catch: rooms in Venice sell out, so book early.

Know before you go

It is held on Pentecost, so the date moves each year.
Hotel rates rise and rooms fill up, so booking well in advance is recommended.
Venice Marco Polo (VCE) is on the edge of the lagoon, about 20 minutes by bus to Piazzale Roma.
