Saturday, August 29, 2026: Open from 10:00 to 19:30.
Sunday, August 30, 2026: Open from 10:00 to 17:30. Performance times vary by venue.
Both days: Performances on four stages (including the Meiji-jingu main hall area, the Jingu Kaikan stage, Harajuku Station and the Yoyogi Park outdoor stage) and parades on Omotesando and in front of NHK, plus food stalls at Yoyogi Park.

History of Harajuku Omotesando Genki Matsuri Super Yosakoi

Since 2001 the local shopping avenue association Harajuku Omotesando Keyaki-kai has organized the festival for the Meiji Jingu dedication festival. It keeps the tradition of the Kochi Yosakoi festival, which started in 1954 with 21 teams and 750 participants.

More than 100 dance teams fill Harajuku and Omotesando on the last weekend of August.

Yosakoi teams dance with naruko clappers on four stages and two street venues around Harajuku, Omotesando, Yoyogi Park and Meiji Jingu. Teams come from Kochi, where yosakoi began, and from around the world. Costumes and music are free-style, from traditional to rock. The festival is held for the Meiji Jingu dedication festival and goes ahead in the rain.
